Frequented. Asked. Questions
What requirements must a kitesurf school meet?
At Kukulkite in Holbox, we comply with all local regulations: we hold civil liability and accident insurance, are registered as a tourism service provider in Mexico, and our instructors are certified by IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization), ensuring your safety and peace of mind.
What safety measures does the school have?
We use top-quality, regularly renewed equipment and provide rescue boat support to assist students at all times — whether you lose your board, have trouble returning to shore, or need any help out on the water.
Is equipment included in the course?
Yes — everything is included. You just bring your swimsuit, sunscreen, water, and sunglasses; we provide kite, board, wetsuit (if needed), harness, helmet, life vest, and of course, good vibes and expert guidance.
What’s the minimum age to start kitesurfing?
Thanks to modern kite designs, safety systems, and teaching methods, children from around 7 years old can start learning safely and enjoyably.
How long does it take to learn kitesurfing?
Our beginner course usually lasts 3 days and covers safety rules, kite control on land and water, and getting up on the board to ride. From there, you can continue with intermediate courses or take individual lessons tailored to your level.
What is the difference between group, semi-private, and private courses?
Group courses are great fun, accommodating up to 4 students sharing two kites with one instructor. Semi-private courses are for two people with one instructor, great for couples or friends. Private courses give you one-to-one attention and typically deliver the fastest progress.
What happens if weather prevents a class?
If weather conditions don’t allow a lesson to take place, we either refund the amount or reschedule — you only pay for the actual hours taught.
Can I take a course if I’m alone?
Yes! If you’re traveling solo, we’ll do our best to include you in a group of similar level. Alternatively, you can choose semi-private or private options for a more personalized experience.
Who are the instructors?
Our instructors are experienced, IKO-certified professionals with years of teaching kitesurfing. They’re passionate, patient, and dedicated to making your learning experience safe, fast, and fun.
Can anyone learn kitesurfing?
Absolutely! Modern equipment, safety systems, and teaching methods make kitesurfing accessible to most people. While learning pace varies by age and fitness, everyone can try and enjoy it responsibly.
